Does Participating in the Home Run Derby Have a Negative Affect on the Player’s Second Half?

Not really… What did we find? Well, nothing really eye popping. Since these guys are already swinging a hot bat going into the All Star Game, we expected some decline. We looked at 2015 and 2016 Home Run Derby participants and we took a couple All Stars who didn’t participate for our control group. The only thing that was different among the control group and the participants was the HR/FB rate. Even the HR/FB rate wasn’t across the board for HR derby participants. What do you see?
